Does it offend you, yeah?

You Have No Idea What You’re Getting Yourself Into, Almost Gold
Reading’s latest buzz band actually took their name from a line used in an episode of The Office. Growing up in the home to one of the UK’s biggest music festivals has done them well on their debut. Dance collides with rock on several rave-ups, including the punk-on- the-dance-floor opening instrumental “Battle Royale.” Describing DIOY,Y? as The Rapture on steroids only begins to give one a sense of their disco-metal attack. Think more of Daft Punk meets The Clash – uptown. Despite some down moments, most notably the mope-rock of “Dawn of the Dead,” the energy stays mostly high, punctuated by vocoder-laden vocals on at least a few tracks. With its multiple personalities, the band would’ve perhaps been better served releasing this as a couple of EPs.
